Publication Ethics
The Jurnal Penelitian dan Pengembangan Teknologi Informasi dan Komunikasi (JURTIK) is a journal managed by LPPM STMIK Bandung, first published in June 2012. JURTIK is a scientific journal that is published online and publishes articles or scientific papers resulting from research in the field of computer science.
This statement of ethical publication is a code of ethics for all parties involved in the journal’s publication process, including the journal managers, editors, peer reviewers, and authors. The Scientific Publication Code of Ethics upholds three ethical values in publication:
(i) Neutrality, ensuring freedom from conflicts of interest in managing publications;
(ii) Fairness, granting authorship rights to those who are entitled to be authors; and
(iii) Integrity, ensuring freedom from duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism in publications.
After reading this Ethical Publication Statement, please download the Ethics Statement and Copyright Agreement. You are required to sign and submit the Ethics Statement as part of your initial article submission. The Copyright Agreement must be submitted before the article can be published. The Ethics Statement and Copyright Agreement can be sent via mail, email, or fax.
Duties and Responsibilities of Journal Managers
- Determine the journal's name, scientific scope, publication frequency, and accreditation if necessary.
- Establish the editorial board membership.
- Define the relationship between the publisher, editors, peer reviewers, and other parties through a contract.
- Respect confidentiality regarding contributors, authors, editors, and peer reviewers.
- Apply norms and regulations related to intellectual property rights, particularly copyright.
- Review journal policies and communicate them to authors, the editorial board, peer reviewers, and readers.
- Develop a code of conduct for editors and peer reviewers.
- Publish the journal regularly.
- Ensure the availability of funding sources for the journal’s sustainability.
- Establish networking and marketing collaborations.
- Prepare necessary permits and legal aspects.
Duties and Responsibilities of Editors
- Balance the needs of readers and authors.
- Continuously strive to improve publication quality.
- Implement processes to ensure the quality of published works.
- Prioritize objective freedom of expression.
- Maintain the academic integrity of authors' publication records.
- Provide corrections, clarifications, retractions, and apologies when necessary.
- Be responsible for the writing style and format, while the content and statements in the manuscript remain the responsibility of the author.
- Actively seek input from authors, readers, peer reviewers, and editorial board members to improve publication quality.
- Encourage journal evaluations when necessary.
- Support initiatives to minimize research and publication errors by requiring authors to submit an Ethical Clearance Form approved by the Ethical Clearance Commission.
- Support initiatives to educate researchers on publication ethics.
- Assess the impact of publishing policies on authors and peer reviewers and make improvements to increase accountability and minimize errors.
- Be open to new ideas or perspectives, even if they differ from personal opinions.
- Avoid biases that could result in non-objective decisions.
- Encourage authors to improve their manuscripts until they are suitable for publication.
